First Saturday in Advent
Wonder of a Star
(Light the 1st Purple Candle)
And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.
Genesis 1:3-4
We spend our lives trying to separate the light from the dark, the good from the bad, We hear from parents, teachers, friends, and bosses at work what is right and what is wrong. Isn't is reassuring that God has already figured this out for us? If he has done it for all of creation, surely he has already prepared for us a path that leads toward the light of Jesus, and away from the darkness of sin. As you look to the end of the first week of Advent and the beginning of the second, ask yourself where have you seen the Star of Christ this week? Share where you have seen the light over the dark this week.
God, we have journeyed this week together and have seen your light and are thankful. Prepare our hearts for the continued journey ahead. AMEN
Send your word, O Lord, like the rain
Falling down upon the earth send your word
We seek your endless grace.
With souls that hunger and thirst
sorrow and anger dies
we would all be lost in dark without your guiding light
